About

Effective March 16, 2020, we will be conducting phone interviews with scheduled clients rather than seeing them in the office. If you currently have a scheduled General Assistance, WIC, or Shelter + Care appointment, please be prepared to answer your phone at that time. Staff will conduct a phone interview, and your vouchers or WIC checks will be sent to you in the mail. If you have a GA, WIC, or S+C emergency and do not have a scheduled appointment, please do not come to the office. GA call 207-992-4530 . WIC call 207-992-4571. S+C call 207-992-4533.

The Bangor Public Health department was founded in 1954 and since that time has sought to improve the health status of its residents . The work is guided by our vision: all residents deserve to live in thriving communities where every person has a healthy and fulfilling life.

We seek to accomplish this vision through our mission to promote health and well-being in our community by providing prevention services, supports, education and leadership.

Our three-year strategic priorities include (1) communication & branding, (2) programs and services, (3) fiscal stability, (4) a welcoming and functioning workspace and environment, (5) a community indicators dashboard, and (6) achieving national public health accreditation

As the Public health leader for the Bangor region we seek to set local public health policy, using a ‘health in all policies’ lens and by collaborating with our health partners. Our hope is that our recognition as the health leader will help promote and encourage behavior change, inspire action, and build momentum toward a healthier community.

WIC and Immunization/Travel/STD Clinics are now open by appointment!
